What Are Welded Pipes?
‘Cylindrial’ is the shape of welded pipes which are manufactured using a rolling flat metal plate or strip into a round shape and welding the seam. Thereby forming a continuous strong pipe. The welding process involves various techniques. These include: electric resistance WELDING (ERW), electrofusion welding (EFW) or submerged arc welding (SAW).
More importantly, if you want to understand what are welded pipes then you need to learn that they are widely used for the transportation of liquids and gases in a wide range of industries. These include oil and gas, petrochemical, construction, and water treatment. These pipes have more value because of their cost-effectiveness, uniform wall thickness, and ability to be produced in large diameters and long lengths.
With regards to comparison of welded vs seamless pipes, welded pipes prove to be more cost-effective and easier to manufacture in customised dimensions. Seamless pipes on the other hand preferred for high-pressure or critical applications due to their lack of a weld seam. More importantly, because of modern welding and inspection technologies, welded pipes now offer excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and durability.
Types of Welded Pipes We Offer:
We at Metal Forge India, a leading Welded Pipes manufacturer in India offer you a comprehensive range of ASTM welded pipes that meet international quality standards and diverse industrial needs. More importantly, we offer them at an affordable Welded Pipes Price in India. They are given below:
-
- Stainless Steel Welded Pipes: We offer you stainless steel welded pipes manufactured with ‘Precision’ for applications requiring superior corrosion resistance and clean surface finishes. Typically, they are engineered as per ASTM standards. They are widely used in the food processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, and marine industries. More importantly, they guarantee long service life, excellent weldability, and high tensile strength.
- Carbon Steel Welded Pipes: Our Carbon Steel Welded Pipes are engineered with ‘Precision’ and are known for their strength, excellent structural capability, and affordability. Typically, they are used in applications where high pressure, high temperature, and durability are required. Most importantly, these pipes are produced as per ASTM welded pipes standard. It ensures consistent quality and mechanical performance.
- Alloy Steel Welded Pipes:
Typically, we have manufactured Alloy steel welded pipes using ‘Precision’ engineering by adding elements such as chromium, molybdenum, nickel, and vanadium. This is mainly to enhance the pipe’s mechanical and corrosion-resistant properties. More importantly, these pipes display superior toughness and heat resistance. Hence they are the ideal solutions for extreme operating conditions. - Nickel Alloy Welded Pipes:
Nickel alloy welded pipes provide exceptional corrosion resistance, especially in ACIDS, seawater and high , high salt environments. its renowned for its high temperature stability and excellent metallurgical integrity. They are therefore ideal for highly , highly corrosive and high-pressure applications.
Welded Pipe Manufacturing Process:
The manufacturing process of Welded Pipes is complex and involves the production of three types of Welded Pipes. We at Metal Forge India, a leading Manufacturer, Supplier & Exporter in India offer you the welded pipe manufacturing process available in three forms ERW, EFW, and DSAW below:
-
EFW Welded Pipe:
This Type of Welded Pipe is manufactured using the following process:
- Process begins with rolling of Steel plates into cylindrical form
- An electric arc is then used to melt the edges
- There is a possibility of filler material being used to make the weld strong
- The weld area is inspected and heat-treated.
- Finally, the finishing process is applied to EFW Welded Pipe
-
ERW Welded Pipe:
It is by using ‘Cold Forming’ that steel coils are converted into cylindrical shapes. Furthermore, electric resistance heat is used to weld generated by high-frequency currents. The process includes the following:
- Steel strip is cold formed into pipe shape
- Through the strip edges High-frequency electric current is passed
- The heat generated by resistance fuses the edges together without adding filler metal.
- Seam is forged under pressure, forming a strong weld.
- Finally, the ERW Welded Pipe undergoes heat treatment and NDT testing.
-
DSAW Welded Pipe:
- Firstly the Steel plate is beveled and shaped into a cylindrical form.
- In the inside of the seam Submerged arc welding (SAW) is applied
- Another weld is passed from the outside
- Continuous Weld metal is deposited with granular flux for deep penetration
- Finally, the pipe undergoes hydrostatic testing and ultrasonic testing.
